Classic Fondue Recipe with Shredded Alpine Blend
Happy New Year! Pop the champagne and grab your fondue pot, because nothing gets you ready for 2020 like a crusty baguette dipped in melty gooey cheese. Here’s a classic Swiss fondue recipe to share with your customers. Instead of having to grate three- four different cheeses, we recommend using our Shredded Alpine Blend – a mix of Gruyére, Emmentaler, Mountain Cheese and Raclette.
S490 – Shredded Alpine Blend – 6/2.2lbs
Serve with a cubed up baguette, cornichons, roasted German ball potato, sautéed cremini mushrooms, cured meats like Prosciutto, and if you’re major cheese heads like us….more cheese.
Classic Swiss Fondue
1 cup dry white wine – ie. Pinot Grigio
2 lbs (8 cups) of Shredded Alpine Blend
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 1/2 T Kirsch
1 garlic clove – cut in half
Freshly ground black pepper
Freshly grated nutmeg
Rub the garlic along the walls of the fondue pot or dutch oven. Toss up the shredded cheese with cornstarch. Heat the wine first in the pot, getting it to simmer, then add handfuls of the cheese and cornstarch mixture until the it all incorporates. Add black pepper and nutmeg to taste.
